BMWi Innovation Competition: KI consortium supported by KSRI receives funding recommendation

  • Date: 14.04.2019

Artificial intelligence (AI) is intended to secure the long-term competitiveness of German SMEs. A consortium in which KSRI is an important partner has developed a project proposal. The project has now been recommended for funding on the basis of the positive evaluations of the experts of the innovation competition "Artificial intelligence as a driver for economically relevant ecosystems" of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi).

The consortium, led by USU Software AG, together with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, the eco Association and the Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin, designed the "Service-Meister" project in just one month. The aim is to develop and design an AI platform for German medium-sized businesses. This should make the growing complexity of the provision of services within the framework of operator models - for example in the area of machine-as-a-service - controllable. With limited staff resources and the support of complementary service offers, market-leading service offerings are to become cost-efficient and competitive.

"Digitized expert knowledge makes it possible to train additional partners in the ecosystem - also for high-quality services," says Henrik Oppermann, Business Unit Manager at USU Software AG in Karlsruhe. Service Master focuses on three areas that are important for industry:

  • Automated collection of the vital status of the machine before, during and after maintenance,
  • Fleet-wide platform for connecting master craftsmen/technicians with each other
  • AI-based chat bots that automatically read and understand the available amount of available reports with regard to routine tasks and procedures and consult them complementarily by the technician.

In the context of the now upcoming competitive phase, the aim is to design an ecosystem with corporations and SMEs for maintenance knowledge as a joint platform. The development of profitable data products and the legal and technical protection with regard to data protection and applicable security measures is a central aspect.

Das Konsortium führt zwischen April und September eine Reihe von Workshops und Informationsveranstaltungen durch. Interessenten melden sich einfach bei info∂
