KSRI supports Competence Center for Applied Security Technology (KASTEL) at KIT

  • Date: 15.02.2019

Already in March 2011, the Competence Center for Applied Security Technology (KASTEL) was established at KIT. KASTEL is one of Germany's three Competence Centers for Cyber Security funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The common goal is to ensure "verifiable security in the networked world" in the context of a growing interconnection of previously isolated systems.

After a successful initial phase, KASTEL started with the second phase in December 2018 with newly defined research fields and projects and has brought on board additional partners such as the Karlsruhe Service Research Institute (KSRI) and the Institute for Entrepreneurship, Technology Management and Innovation (EnTechnon).

Over the next two years, KSRI supports the new start-up incubator StartUp Secure KASTEL with the conception and implementation of Design Thinking Workshops aimed at promoting the foundation of new start-ups in the field of the German Federal Government's Research Program on IT Security "Self-determined and secure in the digital world 2015 - 2020".
