Curriculum Vitae

Robert Kern graduated in applied physics and computer science at the University of Augsburg, Germany, in 1998 and joined the IBM Development Lab in Boeblingen/Germany in the same year. For several years, he was involved in the development of text search technology in the scope of the DB2 relational database system. Since 2004 he was concentrating on information integration technology and Information-as-a-Service with a special focus on the traditional IBM mainframe platform z/OS. As one of the leading experts for IBM products in that area, he managed customer and business partner projects throughout EMEA out of a worldwide team and he educated technical sales and services people on the technology. In 2008, Robert joined the IBM co-funded Karlsruhe Service Research Institute (KSRI) at the KIT as a member of the Digital Service Innovation research group where he is focusing on service science and crowdsourcing topics.
