Europe-wide study on the impact of car sharing on the mobility of city dwellers by Prof. Fromm and Dr. Patrick Jochem
- Date: 18.12.2019
On behalf of SHARE NOW, Prof. Dr. Hansjörg Fromm and Dr. Patrick Jochem conducted a comprehensive and Europe-wide study on the impact of car sharing on the mobility of city dwellers. The results were now presented by study leader Prof. Dr. Hansjörg Fromm (KIT) and Olivier Reppert (CEO SHARE NOW). Free-floating carsharing leads to a significant reduction in road traffic and less air pollution in all eleven major cities in Europe. More than 10,000 regular car sharing users in eleven major EU cities were surveyed. On average, each vehicle from SHARE NOW replaces up to 13.8 private vehicles and SHARE NOW users reduce the distance covered by the car alone in Berlin and Hamburg by 160 million kilometers per year.
