Research Groups

KSRI bridges the gap between the economic and technical aspects of services. To address these various facets, KSRI is organized as an inter-disciplinary institute with six distinct research groups:

 

Discrete Optimization and Logistics

The group Discrete Optimization and Logistics focuses on the systematic conception and development of mathematical optimization and simulation models with application to the health care sector.

Digital Service Innovation

Information Systems & Service Design

The research group Information Systems & Service Design focuses its research on the understanding and design of intelligent, user-centered digital service systems for enterprises and society. 

Knowledge Management

Prof Dr. Rudi Studer, Prof. Dr. York Sure-Vetter

The group Knowledge Management focuses on the research area of semantic representation of knowledge and web-based services.

Information & Market Engineering

Prof. Dr. Christof Weinhardt

The group Information & Market Engineering has its balance point in an engineering way of designing electronic markets within the service research domain.

Energy Economics

Prof. Dr. Wolf Fichtner

The research group Energy analyses services along the whole energy supply chain, from primary energy supply, over energy conversion and energy transport to energy distribution and energy use.

 

Value Stream Services

The research group Value Stream Services (VSS) of Dr. Helmut Wlcek and Prof. Dr. Kai Furmans focuses
on methods and services to systematically improve the flow of material and information
in value streams.
